This little girl is selling little nic nacs made from shells found on the beaches. Might not seem like much but this girl has to make money in order to buy food and med supplies.
This pic was taken from the Fanning Island. If I remeber correctly the island is owned by NCL. ( Norwegian Cruise Lines ) The island itself is about 900 miles south of the Hawaiian Islands. ( Middle of nowhere, ya'know? ) While I was on the Pride of Aloha we made a monthly trip down there. For the most part it was to deliver supplies to the people but to also bring tourism so that the people there could buy meds. ( Other supplies included wood, tools, and gas ) Though as of May 11th ( o8 ) the Aloaha was transfered to the international fleet. So we're left to wonder what will happen to this girl and her people? God only knows... but I think they'll be fine. |
